Piano damaged in Japan's tsunami on display at Takashimaya

A Yamaha baby grand piano that was swept away in the devastating tsunami in Japan two years ago will be on display from Friday evening to Oct 2 at Takashimaya departmental store at Ngee Ann City.

The piano was restored by Japanese piano tuner Hiroshi Endo and will be at the atrium at level one of Takashimaya as part of Takashimaya's 20th anniversary which takes place next in October. The theme for the mall's anniversary is Hope and Gratitude.

Singaporean pianist Clarence Lee, 23, will perform on this piano on Friday evening and over the weekend as part of the event.

There will also be a photography exhibition and the sale of paintings by nine-year-old art prodigy Gelyn Ong for charity. Proceeds from the paintings will go to Viva Foundation for Children with Cancer.
