Four generations - or more than 80 members - of the Tan family live in a house with 32 rooms in Toh Crescent. The household is run like a large company, with a heirarchy as well as rules and SOPs.

A book on the 100th year history of the Tan family, former pig farmers in Singapore-turned-supermarket chain operator here and holiday resorts owners in China will be launched this weekend.

The book details the ups and downs of the family and how, after all these years, the family members still stay together and how the family spirit and discipline have helped in the family's businesses led by Mr Tan Hong Khoon.
