A fortnight of Mid-Autumn festivities at Gardens by the Bay kicked off last night with the lighting of a lantern display, the Arrival of the Phoenix, a mythical bird associated with warmth and harvest. At the launch were (from far left) People's Association chief executive director Desmond Tan, National Arts Council deputy CEO Paul Tan, Minister for Social and Family Development and Second Minister for National Development Desmond Lee, Gardens by the Bay chairman Theresa Foo and Gardens by the Bay CEO Kiat W. Tan. The festival runs nightly till Oct 8.
