Pedestrian dies after accident; driver arrested

A pedestrian died after an accident involving a lorry at the junction of Choa Chu Kang Street 51 and Choa Chu Kang North 5 yesterday.

The accident happened around 11.55am near Limbang Shopping Centre.

The woman, who was reported to be 67 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed with The Straits Times.

The SCDF sent a fire engine, a Red Rhino, an ambulance and a support vehicle to the scene.

A 30-year-old driver has been arrested for causing the death due to a rash act. He is believed to be a foreigner.

Police investigations are ongoing.
