SINGAPORE -For a long time, the job of supporting young ones with special needs has been left to staff trained in early intervention, as most pre-school teachers were not adequately equipped to help them.

Parents of children with special needs would be familiar with the daily shuffle between pre-schools and centres which provide early intervention.
