Pakistani High Commissioner praises welfare organisation Jamiyah for its good work

Pakistani's High Commissioner to Singapore Syed Hasan Javed presented a reproduction of a painting by renowned Pakistani artist Jimmy Engineer to welfare organisation Jamiyah Singapore as a gesture of goodwill on Thursday.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Syed Hasan said he was "impressed with the good work done by Jamiyah, especially in the area of philanthropy".

Jamiyah's president Mohd Hasbi Abu Bakar said the organisation would look for opportunities to work with the High Commission in future and network with similar organisations in Pakistan in order to share best practices.

Jamiyah runs education centres, homes for children and the aged, and free public clinics offering legal and medical advice, among others. It celebrated its 80th anniversary last year.
