Over a thousand jobs are up for grabs at the Bedok Mall job fair in Bedok Town Centre. Recruiters are looking to fill positions for their stores at a brand new shopping centre, Bedok Mall, which will open before Christmas.

The 220,000 square-feet mall, about the size of Junction 8, will have some 200 shops including restaurants like the famous Tim Ho Wan and fashion retailers like Giordano. The mall connects directly to Bedok MRT station and Bedok Bus Interchange.

"Bedok residents will benefit as new jobs are created at their doorsteps," said Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry and National Development Lee Yi Shyan who launched the job fair on Monday. "They will have more retail choices, we hope that the mall will attract more regional traffic and rejuvenate the Bedok Town Central, bringing more business even for neighbourhood retailers here," added the adviser for East Coast GRC.

The job fair is co-organised by the Employment and Employability Institute (e2i) and CapitaMalls Asia and CapitaLand. Over 50 retailers are looking to recruit and these brands include Watsons, Guardian and BreadTalk. Positions available range from front-line service staff, kitchen crew to managerial positions for retailers and restaurants. The job fair is open to only Singaporeans and permanent residents and applicants can seek relevant training at an e2i booth at the fair.

Bedok Mall is already 99 per cent leased, even three months before its opening, CapitaMalls Asia said. The fair runs on Monday and Tuesday at the open space in front of Block 212 at Bedok Town Centre.
