SINGAPORE - In a rare treat, all three generations of a family can enjoy an event catered specially to them this weekend.

For the first time, Singapore's longest running children's education fair, The Kidz Academy, is taking place alongside Baby Baby, a showcase of products for expecting parents, and Health Fiesta, a health and education fair for people aged above 40.

The triple exhibition with more than 160 exhibitors is organised by Singapore Press Holdings subsidiary, Sphere Exhibits.

"While it has always been in the plans to deliver a mega three-generation event for families, we have not been able to do so due to venue constraints. When the opportunity came up this year, we jumped at it," said consumer business director of Sphere Exhibits Mandy Wong .

At The Kidz Academy, children can look forward to enjoying live performances based on the tales of Badang, a folk hero, and Sang Nila Utama, a prince who was said to have founded pre-colonial Singapore. Parents and kids can also attend free trial classes conducted by educational and enrichment providers.

"This event is good to keep them entertained, especially during the school holidays," said Ms Cindy Bong, 40, a lecturer, who was there with her two children, aged seven and eleven.

Meanwhile, Baby Baby showcases products and services from over 500 brands including milk powder, baby clothes and food. There is even a 'stroller park' where parents can test drive strollers before making a purchase.

Next door, the Health Fiesta features educational seminars, fitness sessions and healthy cooking demonstrations. Highlights include sharing sessions on retirement planning and a hands-on macramé workshop.

About 120,000 visitors are expectedover the weekend.

The fairs are at Suntec Singapore Halls 401 to 406 and will run till tomorrow. The Kidz Academy opens from 10am to 9pm today and 10am to 8pm tomorrow, while Baby Baby and Health Fiesta open from 11am to 9pm today and 11am to 8pm tomorrow. Admission is free.
