SINGAPORE - NTUC FairPrice will donate $1.2 million to help low-income families through the FairPrice Food Voucher Scheme, after pledging the amount at its annual walking event on Saturday (May 14).

FairPrice Walks With U, into its fourth year, saw 8,000 participants and over 200 FairPrice staff participants and volunteers walk 4km for charity at the Singapore Sports Hub.

FairPrice Foundation pledged $150 for every event ticket sold, which were priced between $10 and $15.

The morning walk was flagged off by Environment and Water Resources Minister Masagos Zulkifli and FairPrice chairman Bobby Chin.

Since 2002, the FairPrice Food Voucher Scheme has donated $14.4 million in FairPrice vouchers to low-income families through grassroots groups and selected welfare organisations, responding to more than 20,000 requests for help from the poor and needy annually.
