SINGAPORE - The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) has announced restrictions on aerial activities over the National Stadium and its surrounding areas from June to August, in view of the upcoming National Day celebrations.

Such activities "may endanger the aircraft participating in the aerial flypast as well as people and property on the ground," said the CAAS, citing the unauthorised flying of unmanned aircraft, kite-flying, and hoisting of captive balloon as possible infringements.

This will apply from ground level to 4,000ft above mean sea level on days when there are NDP rehearsals, preview shows, and on National Day on Aug 9 itself. In the event of poor weather conditions, reserve dates may also be utilised.

In the month of June, three Tuesdays and Wednesdays, as well as the last Saturday of the month, are affected: from 10.30am to 12.30pm on June 14 and 15; 5pm to 8.30pm on June 7, 8, 21, 22 and 25.

The Restricted Area will also be in place from 5pm to 8.30pm on all five Saturdays in July.

Aerial activities are also prohibited from 5pm to 8.30pm on the actual day of the parade on Aug 9. If postponed, the same time period on Aug 13 (Saturday) will also be included in the selected dates.

Anyone convicted of contravening the order in the first instance can be fined up to $20,000 and in subsequent instances up to $40,000 and/or imprisoned up to 15 months.
