New Zealand army chief visits Singapore

SINGAPORE - The Chief of Army of the New Zealand Defence Force Major-General (MG) Peter Kelly called on Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen at the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) Thursday morning (April 14).

MG Kelly, who is on an introductory visit from Apr 13 to 17, also called on Chief of Defence Force MG Perry Lim and Chief of Army Brigadier-General Melvyn Ong.

MG Kelly inspected a Guard of Honour at Mindef, and will visit the Singapore Armed Forces' Multi-Mission Range Complex, HQ Army Intelligence and Airborne-Trooper Training Facility.

Mindef said in a statement that the visit underscores the close defence relations between Singapore and New Zealand. Both armies interact regularly through bilateral training exercises and professional exchanges, and are part of the Five Power Defence Arrangements and the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting-Plus.
