The Chief of Army of the New Zealand Defence Force, Major-General (MG) Arthur David Gawn, called on Singapore's Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen on Thursday morning, the Defence Ministry said in a statement.
Earlier in the morning, MG Gawn also called on Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Ng Chee Meng and Chief of Army Brigadier-General Perry Lim.
MG Gawn is on an introductory visit to Singapore from April 16 to 20. He will visit Headquarters Singapore Artillery, Safti Military Institute and the Multi Mission Range Complex on Thursday.
He will also attend the Officer Cadet Course Commissioning Parade at Safti Military Institute in Jurong for Army and Air Force officer cadets on Saturday. A New Zealand officer cadet will be commissioned at the parade.
The Singapore Armed Forces and the New Zealand Defence Force have regular training exercises, professional exchanges, visits and courses together, Mindef said.
Both armed forces also interact under the Five Power Defence Arrangement - the world's second-oldest military partnership - and the Asean Defence Ministers' Meeting-Plus, a multilateral forum.
