New website to help employers hire older workers

The Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) has launched a new website to help employers manage their older workers.

The website, www.age-mgt.sg, provides free information such as subsidy schemes that employers can tap on to make their workplaces more conducive for older workers. The WDA says that the website will encourage firms to hire local workers, especially older Singaporeans who want to keep working.

The website was launched by Senior Minister of State for Health and Manpower Dr Amy Khor at a seminar on the employment of older workers on Wednesday. At the seminar, the WDA held up the Singapore Marriott Hotel, the Chinese Swimming Club and local engineering firm Chong Lee Leong Seng Co as model employers for hiring older workers.

Last year, the Government introduced laws to make it compulsory for firms to rehire their workers till 65 if they are medically fit and have a satisfactory work performance.
