Parents and preschool teachers will soon be able to tap on another resource to improve bilingual learning. It was announced on Monday that the Lee Kuan Yew (LKY) Fund for Bilingualism is supporting a new bi-weekly Chinese language publication developed by Lianhe Zaobao called Thumbs Up Little Junior.

Free copies of the publication will be distributed to all pre-school centres run by Voluntary Welfare Organisations and centres operated by PAP Community Foundation and NTUC First Campus. The publication will also be made available to the public.

Thumbs Up Little Junior is targeted at Kindergarten 1 and 2 children and includes picture stories, local and foreign news, nursery rhymes, comics, games and activities. It will be launched on Aug 16.

The LKY Fund for Bilingualism aims to promote bilingual education and supplement efforts by the Education Ministry in the teaching and learning of English and the Mother Tongue languages. For a start, the Fund is focusing on initiatives targeted at pre-school children.
