Aerospace manufacturer Pratt & Whitney held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new facility at Seletar Aerospace Park Thursday morning.
The new 16,000 sq m production facility will manufacture fan blades and high pressure turbine disks for Pratt & Whitney's engines. It is projected to be ready in 2014, and begin manufacturing fan blades from 2015.
It will border the firm's existing flagship facility at Seletar, Pratt & Whitney Singapore Component Repair. The company has invested nearly $110 million to develop these two new facilities.
Said Pratt & Whitney president David Hess: "This expansion is a strategic investment for our company, and we are confident the Asia Pacific market is well-positioned for economic growth in 2013 and beyond."
