New NParks chief executive appointed

Mr Kenneth Er, the current chief operating officer of Gardens By The Bay, will be appointed chief executive of the National Parks Board, said the Ministry of National Development on Tuesday morning.

Mr Poon Hong Yuen, NParks' current chief executive, will relinquish his current appointment to become Deputy Secretary (Law) (Designate) in the Ministry of Law.

Mr Poon has been NParks CEO since 2010, and helped implement major infrastructural programmes such as 'destination parks' and a round-island network of park connectors.

Mr Er, 41, a Public Service Commission scholarship holder and forestry graduate, served as as NParks' assistant CEO before assuming his appointment at Gardens By The Bay. The new appointments will take effect from next Monday.
