A new handbook called the Building Specialists Trade Handbook was launched for building professionals on Wednesday.

The book has case studies on best practices in the building industry with examples coming from the various industrial sectors within the Specialist Trade Alliance of Singapore.

The alliance comprises over 1,300 companies in the building industry and aims to improve the standards of the building trade, especially with regards to specialist contractors and suppliers. This handbook is the first of its kind, said president of the Alliance, Nelson Tee.

The handbook was launched at the inaugural International Facility Management Expo 2013 which part of a three-day mega building security show at the Marina Bay Sands. "It is important that we look towards retrofitting buildings with sustainable infrastructure, as well as implementing and encouraging sustainable practices and lifestyles," said Member of Parliament (Bishan-Toa Payoh) Mr Zainudin Nordin who was guest-of-honour at the event.
