New direct bus service from Jurong West to city from third quarter 2013

Commuters travelling from Jurong West to the Central Business District can take the new City Direct (Jurong West) bus service starting from the third quarter of 2013.

The service will operate during weekday peak periods, excluding public holidays, with journey time expected to be comparable to taking a feeder bus service and transferring to a train into the city.

For a start, the service will operate twice on weekday mornings at 7.30am and 7.45am from Jurong West Avenue 3 and head directly to Robinson Road and Marina Boulevard.

In the evening, there will be two return trips at 6.15pm and 6.30pm from Central Boulevard, travelling along Shenton Way back to Jurong West Avenue 3.

The new service part of the Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP), and is in line with the Government's to explore the option of engaging private bus operators to run selected aspects of the BSEP in order to improve capacity of current bus services.

The Land Transport Authority is calling a tender on Wednesday to invite private bus operators to bid to operate the new service.
