SINGAPORE - Police officers seen clearing a large tree from North Canal Road on Friday (June 24) were praised by netizens for their dedication.

A Stomp reader who wishes to be known as Mr Tan sent to the citizen journalism website photos of a group of police officers hauling a fallen tree on the pavement.

The tree was obstructing North Canal Road in the direction towards New Bridge Road, according to traffic alerts by the Land Transport Authority at about 7.15am on Friday (June 24).

Mr Tan, 24, was on his way to work when he stopped to take the photos after 6am, he said.

The policemen were working in the rain to remove the large tree that had blocked all three lanes of the road.

"Thanks for the hard work, officers. Keep it up!" he told Stomp.

Some netizens commented that clearing trees did not seem to be the police's job, but many others lauded them for their hard work.
