SINGAPORE - There is "much to do, much to do better and much to do together", said Minister for Social and Family Development Chan Chun Sing on Wednesday at the first Social Service Partners Conference at Marina Bay Sands.

The conference, which has the theme of "strengthening partnerships", was held to discuss trends and directions for social services. About 800 people, including those from volunteer welfare organisations, government agencies, media, and companies. took part in the event.

Mr Chan said: "Our country is at a significant milestone as we approach our 50th year of independence. Amidst changing demographics and new economic challenges, we will build a 'Community of Support' to care for all in need."

"We will grow our social services, deepen our competencies and strengthen our networks to meet today's and tomorrow's needs," he added.

Participants exchanged ideas on trends, challenges and solutions on the topics such as supporting vulnerable families or co-ordinating service delivery. They also explored how different partners can work together to support those who require help.
