NCC raises nearly $140,000 for kids

The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund (SPMF) yesterday received a sum of $138,886 from the National Cadet Corps (NCC).

NCC chairman Goh Kee Nguan presented the cheque to Ms Irene Ngoo, SPMF's organising vice-chairman, at the NCC Day Parade at Amoy Quee Camp yesterday evening. The parade (far right) celebrated NCC's 110th anniversary, and was officiated by President S R Nathan.

The money was raised by more than 12,000 NCC cadets through a donation drive held over the June holidays.

The SPMF supports needy students with school-related expenses.
