SINGAPORE - A moving video about a man and the challenges he faced, and how he was nurtured by his teachers - depicted through a series of cinematic flashbacks, is making its rounds on social media.

Each scene is tied together by the central theme of asking "why".

The three-minute video, titled It All Begins With A Teacher and posted on the Ministry of Education's Facebook page on Tuesday (Feb 23), has gone viral.

As of 7pm on Wednesday (Feb 24), it has attracted some 160,000 views and has been shared more than 1,400 times.

The Straits Times understands that is it part of the ministry's teaching career advertising campaign.

The post said: "Some encourage, some challenge, some inspire.

"The many teachers in our lives may all influence us differently, but one thing holds true - they change the way we think. They change our lives. Be a part of that."

Other recent public service videos have also done well online.

Notable ones include Love Of A Lifetime, a tearjerker featuring veteran Singaporean actress Li Yinzhu for Medishield Life; For The Ones We Love, in which a bridegroom pays tribute to his wife's parents; and Make It Better - Why Did The Aunty Stop The Boy, which focuses on the need to look at the bigger picture before passing judgement.
