MTI to release Singapore's GDP data for first quarter of 2015

The Economic Survey of Singapore will be released by the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) at 8am, which contains key data including performance by sectors, sources of growth, inflation, employment and productivity in the first quarter of this year.

MTI's advanced estimates last month showed that the gross domestic product (GDP) grew 2.1 per cent on a year-on-year basis in the first quarter, while a recent Reuters poll of economists predicted a slightly better growth of 2.2 per cent. It was revealed on Monday that the country's consumer price index (CPI) had fallen for the sixth straight month, on the back of cheaper oil and lower costs for services. - LEE MIN KOK

ITE to crown winners of ignITE Science and Technology Challenge

The Institute of Technical Education will be awarding top prizes for its ignITE Science and Technology Challenge. The annual competition is in collaboration with the Singapore Science Centre and Ministry of Education. The challenge aims to cultivate interest in applied science through knowledge-based activities. A total of 690 students from 50 schools participated in the challenge. - KUROHI REI

India's BJP marks one year anniversary of PM Modi's time in office

India's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi's one year in office today with a week-long campaign that aims to address concerns among the people that its policies are too friendly to corporations and averse to the common man. As part of the festival, the BJP party will hold 200 rallies across India, with senior ministers and MPs traversing the country to highlight the government's achievements. BJP chief Amit Shah will also hold a press conference in Delhi today, followed by a public rally in Karnal, a city in the state of Haryana. - JEREMY LEE
