Conference on fostering female talent in the workforce to be held

How can more women advance into leadership positions in the workplace, and why is this important? International experts and companies from the Asia-Pacific region will discuss topics centred around fostering female talent in the workforce at a conference co-hosted by the Singapore National Employers Federation, the International Labour Organization, and the Bureau for Employers' Activities. These include the challenges in both attracting and retaining female talent, as well as how to level the playing field for them. - JOANNA SEOW

Singapore's President Tony Tan to meet with Chinese leaders

Singapore's President Tony Tan Keng Yam will meet Chinese leaders Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang and Yu Zhengsheng at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Friday, during his six-day state visit to China until July 4. During the meeting, he will give a speech and witness a cheque handing-over ceremony for a charity project to build hostels for 1,200 primary-school children in Ludian county, south-western Yunnan province, which was struck by an earthquake last August. More than 3.7 million yuan (S$815,000) in funds were raised by the Singapore Embassy in Beijing and the Singapore Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China. - JEREMY LEE
