INDIAN PRIME MINISTER MODI VISITS SINGAPORE FOR THE FIRST TIME AS PREMIER

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives in Singapore today (Nov 23) in his first visit as premier to the Republic, coming as both nations are commemorating 50 years of diplomatic ties. Mr Modi will deliver the Singapore Lecture today, which will be attended by Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who will give the Indian leader a ceremonial welcome at the Istana tomorrow (Nov 24). Among other significant agreements poised to be unveiled during the two-day visit will be Singapore and India's elevating of ties to a strategic partnership.

Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean officially opens Singapore's largest Christmas charity project today (Nov 23) with the launch of this year's Boys' Brigade Share-a-Gift (BBSG) Main Box at the Pasir Ris East Community Club. This year, the project seeks to reach out to 40,551 elderly and less fortunate Singaporeans during the festive period. The BBSG 2015 project will be held from Nov 23 to Dec 17.
