More cases of molest on public transportation: Police statistics

More women were molested last year, with many of them falling prey on buses and trains.

Overall, the police handled more cases of outrage of modesty, 1,414 last year, compared to 1,396 the year before.

Some 10 per cent of the victims were accosted while taking public transport. There was a 34 per cent increase in such cases, said the Singapore Police Force while announcing Singapore's yearly crime statistics on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, scammers continued to enjoy success in using lucky draws as a way to con people last year. Even though the number of cases had fallen slightly, some $7.4 million was swindled last year, compared to $6.4 million in 2011.
