MOM stops work at Jurong construction site after crane topples over

SINGAPORE - A construction company was ordered to stop work at one of its sites after a mobile crane toppled over as it was being set up.

No one was injured during Monday's incident at Sunview Drive in Jurong.

The Ministry of Manpower said it had been alerted to the incident at Yong Xing Construction Pte Ltd's workplace.

The firm had been contracted by industrial landlord JTC Corporation to build an electrical substation at the site, and the mobile crane is owned and operated by Beng Huat Crane Pte Ltd.

"Officers from MOM's Occupational Safety and Health Division commenced investigations immediately," a spokesman from the MOM said.

"The occupier has been instructed to stop all work at the work site while investigations are ongoing."

Last month, a crane at a condominium construction site in Potong Pasir also toppled over, crushing the front gate of a nearby house. No one was injured.
