Minister for Foreign Affairs K. Shanmugam to visit Sri Lanka, India

SINGAPORE- Minister for Foreign Affairs K. Shanmugam will visit Sri Lanka and India from tomorrow to Thursday.

In Sri Lanka, Mr Shanmugam, who is also Minister for Law, will visit Colombo where he will call on President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, said a Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) statement.

He will also meet his counterpart, Minister of External Affairs Mangala Samaraweera, and Governor of the Central Bank Arjuna Mahendran.

The visit aims to reaffirm the strong and friendly relations between Singapore and Sri Lanka, said the statement.

In India, Mr Shanmugam will visit Jaipur and meet Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. He will also travel to Hyderabad and meet Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.

In his meetings, he will discuss how Singapore can strengthen its bilateral cooperation with Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh.

For the visit to Rajasthan, Mr Shanmugam will be accompanied by senior MFA officials, as well as representatives from Singapore Cooperation Enterprise, Temasek Foundation, ITE Education Services and a business delegation led by International Enterprise Singapore.
