Million mask march: 15 assisting police with investigations

Fifteen protestors aged between 16 and 27 are assisting with police investigations into possible offences of taking part in a public assembly without permit, after heeding online calls for 24-hour protests to commemorate Guy Fawkes Day on Nov 5.

Responding to media queries, police said that a group of 12 men had gathered at the vicinity of City Hall MRT station on that evening at about 7pm, dressed in red and black. Three of them were wearing Guy Fawkes masks, and upon conducting checks a total of 14 masks were found in the group's possession.

About three hours later, two other men and a woman were seen with masks along Orchard Road.

This was despite a police advisory issued earlier reminding the public that organising or participating in a public assembly without a Police permit is illegal and may constitute an offence under the Public Order Act.
