Students at Metta School will be able to enjoy new facilities including a baking kitchen with a new block added to the school.

The new block includes four training facilities to support the school's ITE Skills Certification Programme and enhance the quality of vocational education. They comprise baking and food preparation training kitchens, and hotel and serviced apartment training rooms.

The school, which caters to students who have mild intellectual disability and autism, also equipped 20 classrooms in the new block with interactive projectors.

Education Minister Heng Swee Keat, who was the guest of honour at the opening ceremony of the new block on Friday, said: "This expansion was in response to a real need - there was growing demand for the school's established vocational education...The students will now enjoy better facilities and resources to support all facets of their holistic learning.?
