MDIS holds groundbreaking ceremony for new campus in Iskandar

The Management Development Institute of Singapore held a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday morning for its new campus in Malaysia.

Sited in Malaysia's new education hub, Educity, in the Iskandar region, the $116 million campus will be the private school's largest overseas campus at 12ha. This is five times larger than its Singapore campus at Stirling Road.

The school plans to take in 2,000 students when the first phase of construction is completed in 2015. Enrolment will increase to 10,000 when the entire campus is completed in 2023.

The ceremony was officiated by Malaysia's Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, who is also Education Minister.
