Morning traffic on the new Marina Coastal Expressway (MCE) appeared light and smooth in both directions as of 8am on Thursday, the first work day of the new year.
The Straits Times found that traffic eastbound on the MCE into Central Boulevard and the Marina Bay Financial Centre moved effortlessly. Similarly, westbound traffic - from the East Coast Parkway (ECP) into Central Boulevard - along the new superhighway moved along steadily.
Land Transport Authority (LTA) wardens were spotted along Central Boulevard observing the traffic.
Motorists had experienced heavy traffic and jams on the MCE on earlier on Monday with many complaining about poor signage and having too few lanes to filter into. The LTA has since expanded Central boulevard from two to four lanes to cope with the heavy traffic entering the Central Business District from this exit. More electronic signs have also been put up along the 10-lane MCE.
