McDonald's sets up training cafe in ITE campus

Students in the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) will soon be able to learn about fast-food restaurant operations and customer service in a McDonald's training cafe set within the school.

The ITE and McDonald's signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Monday at the McDonald's outlet at JEM shopping centre in Jurong East.

The collaboration will see the two organisations setting up the region's first McDonald's training cafe, due to open early next year at ITE College West in Choa Chu Kang. Besides learning about restaurant operations and customer service, the training cafe will also serve as a test bed for the creation of new recipes by ITE's culinary students.

McDonald's will also help with developing an elective module related to quick-service restaurant operations and customer service for ITE students. The fast-food chain will also provide up to $10,000 for scholarships and book prizes for ITE students every year.
