Mass walk to celebrate National Life Saving Day on Jan 20

A mass walk will be held in late January as part of the annual National Life Saving Day celebrations.

The walk will start at the War Memorial Park at Beach Road, and end at Esplanade Park at Connaught Drive.

Along the 1km route will be ten stations that depict various facets of safety, prevention, and life-saving. One booth, for instance, will focus on how to address major risk factors for heart attacks while another will address the use automated external defibrillators.

Every year nearly 1,400 people in Singapore suffer from heart attacks and only about 20 per cent receive any form of life-saving first aid before the arrival of an ambulance crew.

Those interested in the walk should sign up at www.nrcsingapore.org. Individuals may also register for this free event on-site at the War Memorial Park on Jan 20, between 7am and 7.45am.
