White liquid was spotted flowing out of Kallang River at Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park on Saturday (June 24). But the discharge has not been identified and the PUB said the water quality is within normal range.

The white discharge was spotted at around 5.53pm, by a Stomp contributor going by the name LEK. He sent in a photograph of the unusual sight.

In the photo, parts of the stream had been turned white, contrasting with the greenery along the water body.

The Stomp contributor said that the white liquid can be seen one or twice a month, and that this has been going on for years. He added that he has also seen foam and dark-coloured liquid exiting the drain on several occasions.

When contacted, a PUB spokesman said that it was notified of a white discharge at Kallang River and had sent officers to the site to investigate. But the discharge had already dissipated by the time the officers arrived.

"Online sensors in Kallang River showed that the water quality is within the normal range. We will continue to monitor," the spokesman added.
