SINGAPORE - Male citizens and permanent residents whose birth date falls from September to December 1999 can register themselves for their national service obligations starting next Wednesday (Oct 5).

Registration runs until Oct 25. It can be done online at www.ns.sg or in person at the Central Manpower Base (CMPB) Podium at 3 Depot Road.

Once registered, those affected may apply online or in person for a postponement of their enlistment date, to finish their studies in Singapore. If successful, they will be notified later as to when to report for their enlistment and medical examination.

Those who do not apply for postponement or are not successful in postponing their conscription must, during registration, appoint a date from Dec 16, 2016, to Jan 25, 2017, for a medical examination.

They should go for their examination between 8am and 1pm on the appointed date.

Registrants with questions can call 1800-367-6767 or e-mail contact@ns.sg.
