Man jailed 14 weeks for commercial sex with minor

A man was jailed for 14 weeks on Monday for having commercial sex with an under-18 girl.

Aw Kok Pheng, 40, admitted to two of seven charges of paying between $300 and $400 for each time he engaged the minor for sexual services.

She was 15 when he had sex with her the first time at Fragrance Hotel-Royal at Telok Blangah Road on Nov 8, 2010. The girl had turned 16 when they had sex on the last occasion at Fragrance Hotel-Viva at Wishart Road on Sept 30, 2011.

A district court heard that the victim had operated through four agents and charged customers $300 onwards for her sexual services. She paid her agent $50 per customer for each encounter.

The court also heard her modus operandi.

Through her agents, she posted her photo on an Internet website known as SammyBoy. Interested clients would contact an agent through the phone number indicated.

Upon receiving messages from potential clients, the agent would then send an SMS or call the victim on her mobile phone to inform her of the location, time and price requested by the client. The victim would then proceed to the location where she would check in using her friend's identity card.

Sometime in November 2010, Aw came across the victim's profile on the SammyBoy website and sent a message to the phone number posted that he would like to engage her sexual services. On Nov 8 that year Aw met the victim outside Fragrance Hotel Royal and paid her for sexual services.

In September 2011, he liaised directly with her and booked her for sexual services again. They met at Fragrance Hotel Viva. She produced her friend's IC for registration purposes.

Aw did not make any attempts to verify her age on the two occasions.

The victim called the police in August last year, and told them that she had provided sexual services to about 40 customers between August 2010 and April 2011.
