Man gets jail, caning for sexual and theft offences

A 17-year-old, who met a 13-year-old girl through an online game and invited her home where he had sex with her, was sentenced to 37 months in jail and six strokes of the cane on Friday. Dominic Lim Shan Jun was 17 on July 17, 2009 when he had sex with the minor at his flat in Compassvale Road.

A district court heard that Lim, now 21, led the girl to his room, pushed her onto the bed and had sex with her without her consent. A year later, he met another girl, aged 14, also through an online game. The following day - July 19, 2010 - he suggested that they meet and the the victim agreed.

The girl arrived at his Sengkang flat the next day. After sometime in his flat, Lim grabbed the victim's hand and pulled her into a bedroom. She struggled and did not want to go in but was overpowered. He then tried to force her to perform oral sex on him but she refused. He then rubbed his private parts against her lips several times. She managed to leave the flat after pretending she wanted to play LAN games with him.

Lim pleaded guilty last week to sexual penetration of a minor, aggravated molestation and theft of a $1,000 iPad and $25 from a 15-year-old student at Fernvale Road on Dec 24, 2011.
