A man was charged on Thursday with the murder of a woman at a Yishun flat last week. No plea was taken from P. Mageswaran, 46, who is accused of causing the death of Madam Kanne Lactmy, 62, at a flat in Yishun Street 81 between 8.34am and 12.27pm on Dec 9.

The woman was conveyed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital where she died at 1.30pm. It is not clear if the two parties are related.

Mageswaran, who was arrested on Tuesday, is being remanded at Central Police Division lock-up for investigation. The case will be mentioned on Dec 26.

The penalty for murder is death.
