Man attempting to swim to Singapore arrested

SINGAPORE - A 26-year-old man was arrested by the Police Coast Guard for unlawful entry into Singapore on Tuesday (May 10) morning.

The Coast Guard detected the swimmer in the sea off Woodlands Waterfront at around 4.15am.

They immediately deployed both land and sea resources to stop the swimmer.

At 4.34am, a Coast Guard craft intercepted and arrested the man.

Commander of the Police Coast Guard, senior assistant commissioner of police Hsu Sin Yun said: "This is yet another outstanding performance by my officers resulting in successful detection and arrest."
