The police have arrested a 46-year-old man who is believed to have molested a 15-year-old on a bus.

At about 5pm on July 29, the teen reported that the man had outraged her modesty on board a bus travelling from Bukit Batok Avenue 7 to Woodlands Bus Interchange. The Passenger Service Centre at the bus interchange was alerted and the police were called in. The man was arrested within an hour.

Investigations are ongoing. If convicted, he faces a jail terms of up to two years, a fine, caning, or a combination of penalties.

The police in a statement on Wednesday advised the public to be attentive to their surroundings when taking public transport and if confronted to seek help from people nearby, the bus captain or station manager, and to call the police to report the matter.
