Police have arrested a 40-year-old man for suspected involvement in a series of housebreaking and thefts on Ulu Pandan Road.
Between Sept 6 and Sept 19, police received reports of five cases of break-ins and theft from houses in the area. Cash, laptops, cameras, mobile phones, watches, jewellery and luxury handbags worth more than $40,000 went missing.
Following the reports, police managed to identify the suspect and arrested him at about 4pm on Sunday in Tampines Avenue 2. Cash in different currencies, electronic gadgets, jewellery and handbags were recovered from his possession and seized.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is believed to be involved in at least 10 similar cases committed in Ulu Pandan Road. The police in a statement on Monday advised home owners not to leave their doors and windows unsecured, even when they are inside their premises.
