Man arrested for stealing motorcycle part worth $1,000

The police have arrested a 34 year-old man for stealing a motorcycle part worth $1,000 from a parked motorcycle in the Tiong Bahru area.

A female motorcyclist called the police on Aug 30 when she found that the brake calliper of her vehicle, which was parked along Macalister Road, was missing. The part is valued at about $1,000.

The suspect if found guilty may be imprisoned up to seven years and fined.

The police in a statement on Wednesday advised motorcyclists to park their motorcycles in well-lit areas, cover their vehicles with motorcycle canvases and use anti-theft devices such as disc brake locks, suspension guards and vehicle alarms.
