Man arrested for outrage of modesty along Toa Payoh Rise

The police arrested a 33-year-old man on Wednesday in a case of outrage of modesty.

On Tuesday morning, a 27-year-old woman reported to the police that she was molested by a male stranger while walking along Toa Payoh Rise, after exiting Caldecott MRT station.

After making extensive enquiries in the area, police arrested the suspect on Wednesday at about 6.45pm in the same area. When he was arrested, the suspect also had on him two EZ-Link cards believed to have been fraudulently obtained, said police in a statement issued on Thursday.

Investigations against the suspect are ongoing. The maximum penalty for outrage of modesty is two years' jail, a fine and caning.

The statement advised victims who are confronted to raise the alarm by shouting for help immediately to attract attention, or by seeking help from passers-by.

They should also take note of the culprit's physical description and call the police as soon as possible.
