Make a conscious effort to make time for your spouse: Grace Fu

Make a conscious effort to find time for your spouse and to work at sustaining your marriage, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, Ms Grace Fu.

"In our busy lives, it's easy to take our spouse for granted. This is a timely reminder for married couples to be more intentional in our efforts to find pockets of time for our spouse," she said.

Speaking at Marriage Central's annual marriage convention on Friday, she suggested that this could be achieved through simple acts such as turning off mobile phones during dinner with the spouse, or making time for a weekly date night without the children.

"Employers and colleagues at the workplace, particularly, play a crucial role in setting societal norm and expectation on the importance of marriage relative to other life goals such as career and financial success," said Ms Fu, who is also Second Minister for the Environment and Water Resources and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs.
