Prime Minister Xavier Bettel of Luxembourg discussed regional and international developments with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong when they met at the Istana yesterday evening.

The leaders also reaffirmed the warm bilateral relations between their countries, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

After the meeting, they witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Singapore's National Research Foundation and Luxembourg's National Research Fund to foster science and innovation collaborations through the funding of joint projects.

The two leaders last met when Mr Lee visited Luxembourg in March 2014 after he attended the third Nuclear Security Summit in the Netherlands.

Mr Lee hosted Mr Bettel to dinner at the Istana last night and a tour of Gardens by the Bay earlier in the day.

Mr Bettel, who is on a two-day working visit to Singapore, also went to one-north business park and research hub, where he toured FusionWorld, which showcases innovations by the Agency for Science, Technology and Research.

He was also briefed on Singapore's vision for autonomous vehicles by the Ministry of Transport, and took a test drive in one.
