Commuters experienced an unexpected stop at around 8.30pm yesterday when part of the Bukit Panjang Light Rail Transit service was suspended for about an hour due to a train fault. Passengers were seen clambering out of a marooned train onto the tracks to make their way to Teck Whye station on foot. They were escorted by Singapore Civil Defence Force personnel.

SMRT provided bus services along the affected stretch - between Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Panjang stations.

At around the same time yesterday, delays affected passengers between Bishan and Sembawang stations towards Jurong East on the North- South Line due to a signalling fault.
