Lorry driver arrested for suspected drink driving after CTE accident

SINGAPORE - Police arrested a lorry driver after a collision between his vehicle and a car on the Central Expressway (CTE).

The police said they were alerted to the accident on the CTE towards Seletar Expressway at about 3pm on Sunday (March 19).

A 30-year-old driver was arrested for suspected drink driving.

The Straits Times understands that the lorry was attempting to overtake the car when it swiped the car on the left.

The incident caused heavy traffic on the CTE until about 5pm, according to the Land Transport Authority's Twitter updates.

Vehicles were backed up to the Balestier Road exit at one point.

No injuries were reported and police investigations are ongoing.
