SINGAPORE - The driver of a lorry was taken to hospital after the vehicle crashed into a canal in Lower Delta Road towards River Valley Road on Wednesday (Feb 7).

The accident happened at about 5pm.

A video shared with citizen journalism website Stomp showed firemen lowering a ladder into the canal.

Photos online showed the lorry lying on its side in the canal.

The police said the driver, a 29-year-old man, was conscious when taken to hospital.

A Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) spokesman said a man was taken to Singapore General Hospital by an SCDF ambulance.

Investigations are ongoing.
