LKY Fund looking for ways to improve bilingual learning

The Lee Kuan Yew Fund for Bilingualism is seeking proposals on how to improve bilingual learning among young children.

The fund was set up by former prime minister Lee Kuan Yew in November 2011, to promote the learning of English and mother tongue.

The spokesman for the Fund said that proposals should promote language learning in the context of Singapore, and could take the form of teaching and learning resources, and programmes and events. Proposals will be evaluated based on relevance, impact, scalability, sustainability and standing of the applicant,

Last year, the fund pumped in about $1.6 million to develop 10 projects from the first call for proposals. These projects include digital storybooks to YouTube music videos. Interested applicants can obtain more information at www.bilingualism.sg
